1. Cleaning and Decoration: Houses and offices are cleaned and decorated with lights and flowers.
2. Lighting diyas: Lighting of diyas is a part of the evening hours. The diyas are 14 in number and one extra, that of Yama, god of death.
3. Offering Prayers: Special prayers are offered to Lord Hanuman as this is the birth day of that god too.
4. Sacrifice: This is a specified meal. Sometimes, in this type of sacrifice, there could be sweets or snacks for the family members and close friends.
