Gurjapneet began his career in the Punjab region but found it pretty tough to get into age-group teams there. So, he shifted to Chennai to join Guru Nanak College, soon settling into the local cricketing environment. He started for TNPL in 2021 and since then has been a prominent member of state cricket, especially with the Siechem Madurai Panthers.

He busted into the scene after taking six wickets for just 22 runs when playing against Saurashtra during the 2024 Ranji Trophy on his debut. This was a display not only of his potential but also a big occasion for cricket viewers and analysts as he had dispatched Cheteshwar Pujara and taken it heavy on Virat Kohli during the net sessions for the Indian national team.
