Helena was a familiar face in the 1980s Bombay cinema. She is most famous for her role in Amitabh Bachchan's film Mard (1985). Her other films are Do Gulab (1983), Aao Pyaar Karen (1983), and Saath Saath (1982). The cause of her death is Sick from a Long time.

Helena married Mithun Chakraborty in 1979, with their marriage lasting only four months. In a past interview, Helena had described her marriage to Mithun as a blurred dream, expressing regret and stating that she wished it had never happened. She mentioned that Mithun had convinced her he was the one for her, but she eventually realized that he was self-centered and immature. Despite being much younger than him, Helena shared that she felt more mature.
